The Sorcerer’s Apprentice

Walt Disney Studios producer, Jerry Bruckheimer and director Jon Turteltaub have teamed up again, to present this epic fantasy comedy. The film stars Nicholas Cage as Balthazar Black, a master sorcerer, who recruits a reluctant protege played by Jay Baruchel to help him vanquish the powers of evil.

Led by VFX Supervisor, Adrian de Wet, CG Supervisor, Graham Jack and VFX Producers, Moriah Etherington-Sparks and Tracey Leadbetter, the Double Negative team worked on a significant bulk of the visual effects for the movie, including the live action Fantasia sequence with animated mops, sponges, detergent bottles and CG water. The team also created the Final Battle sequence with the ensuing fire and plasma, the pentagram and the eerie, spectral Morgana.

Other work includes a well-known brass bull statue that comes to life and attacks Balthazar in New York, the training sequences, Merlin’s circle and the Tesla coil effect.
