Ghostbusters: Afterlife

As the main VFX partner for ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’, DNEG delivered over 800 shots across 24 sequences for this new addition to the hugely popular 80s franchise.


Our VFX team created all of the main creatures for the movie, from concept to final shot, ranging from the tiny mini-puffs to the shaking poltergeists and the new hero character, Muncher. For Muncher, our team used new skin simulation techniques, requiring rigid simulations for the metal in the belly of our model and a skin sim to wrap it. We styled the skin simulation to look like the foam latex puppets from the original movies.


We also delivered complex crowd work for the horde of ghosts, and modernised the classic Ghostbusters proton beam and traps technology.
