The School for Good and Evil

As one of the main VFX partners for ‘The School for Good and Evil’, DNEG delivered over 430 shots for this magical Netflix movie.

Our key work included set extensions and the atmospheric makeover for the interior of the Theatre of Tales, fire simulation for the battle axe, an Excalibur sword replacement, Cyclops facial animation, and finger glow prosthetic augmentation.

Our art department and FX team were also kept busy conceptualising and developing the look of each character's signature magic. The protagonists each have individual powers that they use in the final battle between Good and Evil - ranging from blood magic, to starbusts, and even a chocolate fireball! Our FX team iterated with fire, liquid, smoke, particle, and electricity simulations to create the right look and feel for each fantastical effect.
