The Flash

After being struck by lightning, Barry Allen wakes up from his coma to discover he's been given the power of super speed, becoming the Flash, and fighting crime in Central City.

As one of the main VFX partners for ‘The Flash’, DNEG delivered almost 1,000 shots and was tasked with creating multiple complex CG environments that set the scene for some of the most impressive sequences in the film.

Our work included the Batcave environment, which our team recreated from scratch in full CG – including two waterfalls, an electric chair, the Batwing air combat vehicle and hundreds of bats! We also created entirely CG environments for Metropolis, Central City, and the Silo Prison chamber and tunnel system.

Alongside these key environments, our DNEG team also created hero digidoubles for The Flash, Barry, Batman and Supergirl, and used many layers of different ribbons and lighting effects to create The Flash’s various speed force FX when he’s in ‘Flash time’.
