Georges Miller’s Prequel Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga Is Ready To Roar Into Theatres
“Do you have it in you to make it epic?” That’s the question posed by Chris Hemsworth’s Dementus at the end of the Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga trailer, and from the initial reactions online the answer looks to be a high-octane yes!
Hitting theatres on May 24, the long-awaited prequel to 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road tells the origin story of renegade warrior Furiosa, played by Anya Taylor-Joy, before she teamed up with “Mad” Max Rockatansky.
We were honoured to jump onboard as VFX partner, charged with realising director George Miller’s vision, joining him on his journey to help achieve the hyper-stylised aesthetic that he envisioned for Furiosa.
Reviews have begun hitting social media ahead of the movie’s release later this month, with critics already hailing the movie as “powerhouse action filmmaking at its absolute best” and “an instant classic”.
Others have branded the film “heavy metal cinema” adding that Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga has “all the fire and brimstone of Fury Road but still delivers something entirely unique… Furiosa is why we go to the movies.” You can read more reactions in Variety’s round up here and (re)watch the latest trailer below:
As ever, a furiously OTT shout-out goes to our DNEG Sydney team (some of whom were lucky enough to attend the Sydney premiere last week) and our epic global VFX crew.
What a lovely day, indeed!
