Tarzan, having acclimated to life in London, is called back to his former home in the jungle to investigate the activities at a mining encampment.

“The Legend of Tarzan” has a whole lot of fun, big-screen things going for it — adventure, romance, natural landscapes, digital animals and oceans of rippling handsome man-muscle.The NY Times

Stereo

As the exclusive 3D conversion partner on the movie the stereo team got involved on the film early in the production process, delivering 1,713 shots for the 100 minute movie, over 1,200 of which were VFX shots.

CG characters were used extensively throughout the film and as part of the main cast, the team opted to use native stereo renders for some of the elements, such as close-ups of CG fur. The jungle added another level of complexity to the conversion being a very complicated environment, as the intention was to convey a feeling of total immersion, so that audiences felt surrounded by the foliage and the mist and the rain. Another technical challenge that the team overcame on this show arose because the 2D and 3D versions of the movie were being finished at the same time.
