The Boys - Season 4

Following on from our work on Season 1, DNEG was thrilled to return to the dramatic and gory world of The Boys for Season 4, delivering complex FX simulations and CG enhancements for seven out of the series’ eight episodes.

Working across several key sequences, our VFX team created some of the most gruesome moments for the fourth season including Koy exploding against a wall, Frank being burnt alive, Webweaver being torn in two, a laser splitting 'Queen Maeve' in half, and a crazed chicken bursting through a man’s chest!

The key challenge was to ensure that while these visuals were dramatic and entertaining, they were also totally believable and grounded in reality. To achieve this, our team focussed on ​​determining the physics of the dynamics and anatomy, before building up a variety of assets in different stages of degradation which were then carefully combined, animated, FX'd and comped into the final shots.
