Rowling’s varied beasts are fun and brilliantly realised by the effects team.Empire

The real star of Fantastic Beasts is its heavily stylised, period-specific setting. From a seedy jazz club filled with outrageous beings to an explosive showdown in Manhattan’s old City Hall subway station, the movie captures a New York that’s at once nostalgic and otherworldly.IndieWire

Stereo

As the lead stereo vendor on the movie, the stereo team worked on the main action sequences and the stereo conversion of DNEG’s VFX work, which included the shot of Frank, the colossal Thunderbird, flying through the sky to repair the city and creation of the ‘Obscurus’, an ominous dark cloud creature that grows and moves in unexpected and violent ways.

The stereo team also augmented shots with stereo VFX to further enhance the 3D version of the movie. Rain, rubble, sparks and other VFX augmentation elements were added during the stereo conversion, and special versions of these shots were created for the IMAX 3D version which saw these extra elements coming out over the crop to intensify the effect even further.
