The Advanced Imaging Society honoured DNEG Stereo team’s work on Disney’s ‘Aladdin’ with a Lumiere Award for ‘Best 3D Scene or Sequence in a Feature Film’. The award which was presented for the ‘Friend Like Me’ sequence, was accepted by ‘Aladdin’ star Mena Massoud at the 11th Annual Lumiere Awards ceremony, held at Warner Bros. Studios in Los Angeles on Wednesday 22 Jan.
DNEG’s Stereo 3D work on the film, which was supervised by stereographer Barry O’Brien in collaboration with Disney Stereo Supervisor Jared Sandrew, marks our third AIS Award win for ‘Best 3D Scene’ in so many years, with previous awards being presented for the Stereo team’s work on ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’ and Disney’s live-action ‘Beauty and the Beast’. The Lumiere Awards recognize outstanding international achievements in immersive storytelling using advanced visual technologies such as Virtual Reality, Stereo 3D, High Dynamic Range, Augmented Reality and more.
