DNEG Technical Talk: Heavy Metal: Developing a Jaeger Fight Sequence | Tuesday 5th June, 2:30 — 3:30pm, Palais des congrès
Aaron Gilman, Director of Animation on the earth-shaking ‘Pacific Rim Uprising’, will dissect and analyze a Jaeger vs Jaeger fight sequence, focusing specifically on the story beats and creative progression of the fight choreography from previs to final. Aaron’s considerable career achievements include several nominations for his work on Hollywood blockbusters, culminating in an Annie Award nomination for his leadership of the animation of Azog, the fearsome King of the Orcs in ‘The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies’. Aaron also received two nominations for his expert supervisory work on ‘Iron Man 3’. |

DNEG Sponsored Talk: 20 Years of Creativity at DNEG | Wednesday 6th June, 9 am — 10 am, Palais des congrès DNEG celebrates its 20 year anniversary this year, and Global Head of CG Gavin Graham will be talking about how the company went from a boutique facility in London to one of the world’s biggest and best regarded VFX studios. As Global Head of CG, Gavin helps to oversee all the CG departments in DNEG’s offices around the world. He started out as an FX TD on shows like The Chronicles of Riddick and Cloverfield before moving into FX and CG Supervision on projects like Stardust, 2012, Harry Potter 6 and Captain America. In 2011 he moved into management, initially as Head of 3D in London before being promoted to Global Head of CG. |

Foundry’s Chris Wetherly will present an introduction to Nuke software and showcase its practical applications, and Benjamin Ribière, Head of compositing at DNEG, will show artists some of the skills they need master to work at the highest level, including his insight on what it takes to go from a mid to a senior VFX artist. |
