We’re so thrilled to be celebrating 10 years of DNEG Animation! From whimsical worlds and heartwarming friendships to unforgettable adventures, it’s been such a pleasure helping bring to life a number of spectacular projects in the last decade.

Ron’s Gone Wrong
Our first ever animated feature, Ron’s Gone Wrong, hit theatres in October 2021. This fun-filled and charming coming-of-age movie about a boy and his robot for Locksmith Animation and Twentieth Century Studios received great acclaim on its worldwide theatrical release. It won the ‘Best Longform’ award at the 2022 British Animation Awards in London and is now a beloved fan-favourite on Disney+!
Mr. Spam Gets A New Hat
With Mr. Spam Gets A New Hat, the DNEG Animation team showcased their incredible innovation. The collaboration with Oscar-winning filmmaker Bill Joyce was a delight, and pushed the team both creatively and technically with our first use of Unreal Engine for animation and real-time directorial feedback!
The heart-warming film made its North American premiere at the San Diego International Film Festival and was met with acclaim, winning a number of awards.
Entergalactic
The beautifully-stylized Entergalactic marked DNEG Animation’s first collaboration with Netflix. Created by Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi and Kenya Barris, the team was tasked with creating a world that felt like a concept painting sprung to life, which involved ensuring that every stage of the pipeline – from shader development to animation performance to compositing – was deconstructed and re-imagined to support the heightened visual style!
This modern day ‘meet-cute’ received an Emmy nomination for ‘Outstanding Animated Program’, and an Annie Award nomination for ‘Outstanding Achievement for Character Animation in a Television/Media Production’.
Under the Boardwalk
What do you get when you mix West Side Story with Jersey Shore? Paramount Animation’s crab-solutely fun adventure, Under the Boardwalk! This heart-warming musical tale from Director David Soren is both sweet and hilarious, brought to life by our team’s amazing work – which included some truly spectacular sand and water simulations!
Nimona
Nimona, the animated adaptation of N.D Stevenson’s best-selling graphic novel of the same name, released on Netflix in June 2023 – and was immediately met with acclaim from both audiences and critics alike!
This groundbreaking film had quite a journey before making it to the screen, and DNEG Animation was so honoured to be trusted with helping to bring it to life for Directors Nick Bruno and Troy Quane. Exploring its core theme of acceptance with originality, authenticity, and humour, the inspiring film was even nominated for the ‘Best Animated Feature’ Oscar at the 2024 Academy Awards!
The Garfield Movie
Next up: The Garfield Movie! Hitting theatres on May 24th, we’re so excited for you to see our team’s work on everyone’s favourite lasagna-loving feline’s latest adventure.
On top of being the exclusive animation partner, we’re also purrducing – er, producing – the animated feature alongside our partners at Alcon Entertainment. And our amazing Stereo Conversion team is bringing Garfield to the screen bigger and better than ever in 3D!
