SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST: DOUBLE NEGATIVE PROVIDES EARTH-SHATTERING VFX FOR 2012
Double Negative has proven its mettle once again, after providing jaw-dropping visual effects for Roland Emmerich's new disaster epic, 2012.
The team worked on two major sequences, Yellowstone and St. Peter's Square, delivering a long list of effects. Once the team had received the original animatics and pre-viz by the film's overall VFX Supervisors Volker Engel and Marc Weigert, they began to break the shots up into effects categories, while at the same time identified the new and upgraded tools that would be needed.
Throughout the work on 2012, the team relied heavily on proprietary tools that Double Negative have been developing over the years, including Dynamite, Squirt and DNB, while at the same time developing specific new tools, such as dnShatter.
2012 opens in the US &UK on 13th November, 2009
