DOUBLE NEGATIVE ROCKS UP A STORM FOR NEW RICHARD CURTIS FEATURE

The cast of Richard Curtis' new movie, The Boat that Rocked, reads like a Who's Who of British Cinema, with Bill Nighy, Kenneth Brannagh, Emma Thompson and Rhys Ifans, to name a few.

Double Negative's work on the film mainly covered the final sequence from the point where the ship starts to get into trouble, up to and including the sinking shots. It would have been impossible to get the boat to tip to a 30 degree angle without actually sinking it - not the safest or cheapest option! So it was decided that the final sequence would be done in CG. The main challenge for the team was in the technical complexity of the exterior shots of the boat, in various stages of sinking or being 'overwhelmed' by the sea.

The Boat that Rocks opens in the UK on April 1st and in the US on August 28th, 2009.
