Walt Disney Pictures and Jerrry Bruckheimer Films (Pirates of the Caribbean) have joined forces again to bring us Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Directed by Mike Newell (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire), this epic adventure story is set in Persia and follows the fortunes of a rogue prince (Jake Gyllenhaal) who joins forces with a mysterious princess (Gemma Arterton). Together they must race against time to defeat dark forces and protect an ancient dagger that is capable of releasing the Sands of Time; a gift from the gods that allows whoever possesses it to turn back time and rule the world.
Having worked with the director on Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the Dneg team were delighted to be asked to create the integral dagger ‘rewind’ effect, when the dagger of time is activated releasing the sands of time, as well as the climactic sequence set underneath the city of Alumat.
The Double Negative team was lead by VFX Supervisor, Mike Ellis, VFX Producer Joanna Nodwell, co-CG Supervisors, Pete Bebb and Justin Martin and 2D Supervisor Andy Lockley.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time opened in the UK on May 21st 2010 and in the US on May 28th.
